About Fujitsu Ltd

Fujitsu Ltd is the second-oldest IT company in the world (after IBM), founded on June 20, 1935 under the name Fuji Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturing. Originally a spinoff of the Fuji Electric Company, which itself was a venture between the Furukawa Electric Company and the German conglomerate Siemens. In 1954, Fujitsu manufactured Japan’s first computer, the FACOM 100 mainframe, and in 1961 launched its second generation, the FACOM 222 mainframe. Fujitsu continued to offer mainframe computers from 1955 to 2002, as well as other products including minicomputers, small business computers, servers, and personal computers. In 1971, Fujitsu signed an OEM agreement with the Canadian company Consolidated Computers Limited to distribute CCL’s data entry product, Key-Edit. In 1986 Fujitsu and The Queen’s University of Belfast established a joint venture called Kainos, a privately held software company in Belfast, Ireland. In 1990, FUjitsu acquired 80% of the UK computer company International Computers Limited for $1.29 billion. In April 1997, Fujitsu acquired a 30% stake in GLOVIA International Inc., a California manufacturing ERP software provider, and in 2000 acquired the remaining 70%. In August 2007, Fujitsu signed a ten-year deal with Reuters Group under which Reuters outsourced most of its internal IT department to Fujitsu, transferring 300 Reuters staff and 200 contractors to Fujitsu. In October 2007, Fujitsu announced that it would establish an offshore development center in Noida, India, and acquired Infinity Solutions Ltd, a New Zealand-based IT hardware, services, and consultancy company.

Products

Business Electronics: This division consists of electronic devices manufactured specifically for business purposes, such as server mainframes, storage systems (such as hard drives and flash storage), and personal and mobile computing devices such as desktop PCs, workstations, tablets, notebooks, and virtual reality devices. Models include the Table Lifebook and Stylistic series of tablets, Esprimo desktops, Celsius workstations, and Futro thin clients.

Peripheral Devices: Fujitsu produces a variety of peripheral devices including image scanners, dot matrix printers, display screens, keyboards, computer mice, carrying bags, headphones, and mainboards.

Electrical Components: This division refers to all electrical devices manufactured by Fujitus that are components of other devices. This category includes relays, electrical connector parts, touch panels, PCBs and IC substrates, semiconductors, thermal printers, and power distribution units.

Software: Fujitsu offers software programs for all hardware devices it sells, including operating systems like SUS Business Critical Linux, Unicon and Oracle-developed applications, middleware, and software published by their business partners.

Services

Cloud Computing: This division refers to Fujitsu’s cloud computing services, referred to as Multi-Cloud. Multi-Cloud is designed to be scalable to the needs of the client, allowing the end-user to have the right kind of cloud computing arrangement for their needs.

Infrastructure Management: Fujitsu offers IT infrastructure roadmapping, standardization, automation, and virtualization services for companies in need of more efficient IT processes. This service is supported by Global Delivery Centers in more than 70 countries and 41 languages. This category also includes digital workplace development, network and communications management, and product support services.

Enterprise and Cyber Security: This division includes all physical and cyber-security measures Fujitsu offers, including managing security services, consulting, and installing biometric security systems.
