About AMP
Aircraft and Marine Products was founded in 1941 as a manufacturer of solderless electrical connectors for quick and removable wire connections on ships and aircraft. Following the wartime boom, the company adapted to the post war economy and formally changed their name to AMP in 1956 when the company was incorporated. In 1999, the company was acquired by Tyco International. Tyco International separated into three companies in 2007, with AMP continuing as a part of Tyco Electronics. Today, the company is known as TE Connectivity.
