Airbus Helicopters, Inc. is a subsidiary of Airbus Group, Inc. based in Grand Prairie, Texas that designs and produces civil helicopters. Airbus Helicopters’ roots lay in their formation in 1968 as Vought Helicopter Inc. (VHI). As a subsidiary of LTV Corporation, VHI established a facility to market Aérospatiale helicopters to North America. Six years later, VHI was acquired by Aérospatiale and thus became Aérospatiale Helicopter Corporation (AHC) and built the Grand Prairie facility which remains the current one used. In 1992, Eurocopter was formed through the merger of Aérospatiale and DASA, and AHC became American Eurocopter. When the parent companies of Eurocpter merged, the company was renamed Airbus Helicopters, Inc. in 2014.
